Man dies and two taken to hospital after fire in Burton

A man died and two men were taken to hospital after a fire at a block of flats in Staffordshire.
The man died at the scene of the fire in Branston Road, Burton-upon-Trent, after crews were alerted in the early hours of Friday.
Ten people were initially assessed by paramedics but eight did not require hospital treatment, West Midlands Ambulance Service said.
The two men suffered from the effects of breathing in smoke.
Released from hospital
They were taken to Queens Hospital in Burton for further assessment and treatment and released shortly afterwards, police said.
The man, believed to be aged in his 50s, was pulled out of a ground-floor flat, which was destroyed by the fire, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said.
Police said the fire, which is not thought to be suspicious, started in the flat.
Police and fire investigators are carrying out further inquiries at the scene.
