Virus closes four wards at North Staffordshire

Four wards at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire have been closed because of a Norovirus outbreak.

The winter sickness bug is more contagious than the common cold and causes vomiting and diarrhoea.

Health experts have requested visitors or patients with appointments who have suffered symptoms during the last two days should ring in first.

There is no treatment for Norovirus infection which usually fades away after 12 to 60 hours.
