Man killed in motorway accident

A man has been killed in a crash on a motorway in Staffordshire.

Emergency services were called to the M6 northbound, between junctions 14, for Stafford, and 15, Newcastle-under-Lyme, shortly before 0300 GMT.

A spokeswoman for the Central Motorway Police Group said the 25-year-old man had been the only occupant of the vehicle involved.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, she said.

The carriageway was closed for a time after the crash but has since reopened.
