Stafford Hospital wards closed due to norovirus bug

Stafford Hospital has closed two of its wards due to an outbreak of the winter vomiting bug norovirus.

Colin Ovington, director of nursing and midwifery, said wards one and two were closed to new admissions, and part of the acute medical unit was also shut.

Any visitors who have recently experienced sickness or diarrhoea are being asked to stay away from Stafford and from Cannock Chase hospitals.

Norovirus is an infection which spreads easily from person to person.
