Season ticket holders for travel on the railways will be able to take advantage of a new bicycle hire scheme at Stoke-on-Trent railway station.

Fifty Brompton bicycles have been made available for use thanks to funding from the recently closed Cycling England group.

The group was axed as part of the government's cull of quangos.

James Wright from Virgin Trains said if the trial was successful, it could be extended across the country.

The scheme is thought to be the first of its type in the area.
