Staffordshire summer drink-drive campaign launched

A council has teamed up with more than 30 pubs and bars in Staffordshire for its summer drink-drive campaign.
The venues will offer special deals on soft drinks to designated drivers as part of Staffordshire County Council's campaign.
After a successful drink-drive campaign at Christmas, many pubs and restaurants suggested running a similar project in the summer, the council said.
The council said people needed to be aware of the dangers of drink-driving.
Councillor Mike Maryon, cabinet member for Highways and Transport, said: "This campaign aims to make people aware of the very real dangers of driving while under the influence of drink or drugs.
"Those who take that risk are literally putting their lives - and the lives of innocent bystanders - in jeopardy."
