Library reading scheme introduced in Stoke-on-Trent

Volunteers are to visit peoples' homes to read aloud to them as part of a new initiative in Staffordshire.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council said library service scheme is for housebound residents and older people.

The initiative will be introduced in September and people willing to volunteer are advised to contact the council.

The city's libraries already offer a doorstep delivery service and support reading groups.
