Woman suffers burns in fire at flat in Blurton

A woman has suffered serious injuries in a fire thought to have been started deliberately at a Stoke-on-Trent flat.

Emergency services were called to the fire in Hatfield Crescent, Blurton, at about 19:40 BST on Monday after a passer-by saw a woman hanging out of a first floor flat window.

The 37-year-old was suffering from burns and smoke inhalation.

A police spokesman said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the fire being started.

Det Con Gary Cliffe, from Staffordshire Police, said: "A joint investigation into this incident continues but having liaised closely with colleagues at Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service I can confirm we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the fire being started."

No-one else was injured in the incident.

Three crews brought the fire under control, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said.
