Stoke city council Splash Pool corruption probe opened

Stoke-on-Trent City Council is being investigated by police over fresh claims of corruption.

The council asked police to investigate corruption claims in 2009 concerning the closure of the council-run Dimensions Splash Pool in Burslem.

Staffordshire Police arrested three people in 2009 but no-one was charged.

The force said on Friday: "We have recently received correspondence which makes further allegations and we will be reviewing these."

It has not disclosed whether it is currently investigating the three men it had previously arrested.

The Labour-run Stoke-on-Trent City Council has declined to comment on the fresh police investigation.
