Murder arrest over fatal Stoke-on-Trent stabbing

A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was fatally stabbed in Stoke-on-Trent.

Police were called to Wellfield Road, Bentilee, early on Sunday following reports a man had been stabbed.

A 29-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent was taken to hospital but died a short time later, police said.

Six people who were arrested have been released, including two women, aged 21 and 29, who were bailed as inquiries continue.

Staffordshire Police have appealed for information about the incident which officers were called to at 00:45 BST.

A police spokesman said: "Local officers will also be in the community throughout today to offer reassurance to residents.

"Anyone who has concerns should approach an officer or ring Staffordshire Police on 101."
