Stoke-on-Trent stab victim named as Dalbagh Singh Malhi

A man who died after being stabbed in Stoke-on-Trent has been named by police as 29-year-old Dalbagh Singh Malhi.

Staffordshire Police were called to Wellfield Road, Bentilee, on Sunday.

Mr Malhi was taken to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire but later died. A post-mortem examination has revealed he died from a single stab wound to the chest.

Police said a 33-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder remains in custody.

Seven people have now been arrested in total and six people, including two women, aged 21 and 29, have been bailed as inquiries continue.

Officers were continuing to carry out inquiries at the scene, which remains sealed off.

Police said Mr Malhi was from the High Lane, Burslem, area of Stoke-on-Trent.

Ch Insp Mark Dean said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Mr Malhi at this very distressing time, and they are being supported by specially-trained family liaison officers.

"We are doing all we can to bring those responsible to justice."
