Midsummer Mayhem festival postponed due to rain
An annual free festival in Staffordshire has been postponed after heavy rain caused the site to be waterlogged, organisers have said.
More than 8,000 people were expected to attend the Midsummer Mayhem event at Lyme Valley Parkway, Newcastle-under-Lyme, on Sunday.
Organisers said rain had "saturated" the site and conditions would get worse with more wet weather forecast.
They said they hoped to reschedule the event for 16 September.
Newcastle Borough Councillor Elizabeth Shenton, chair of the Friends of the Lyme Valley Parkway said: "Public and exhibitor safety must always be our main concern.
"Midsummer Mayhem takes a lot of organising and we do not want this effort to go to waste, so we will hopefully be able to confirm the new date by the end of this week."
Attractions included a dog show, fairground and farmers market and 130 exhibitors were due to attend.
