Driver, 74, dies in two-car crash near Swindon

A driver has been killed in car crash in Staffordshire.

The crash, involving a Fiat Stylo and an MG ZR, happened on Hinksford Lane, near the village of Swindon, at about 08:50 GMT.

Police said a 74-year-old man, who had been driving the Fiat, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the MG, a 44-year-old woman, did not need hospital treatment. The road was shut until 11:45 GMT while police checked and cleared the scene.

Sgt Ian Revans, from Staffordshire Police, said: "We are very keen to speak to witnesses and, in particular, people who saw the Stylo prior to the collision."
