A large fire at a derelict factory in Stoke-on-Trent is believed to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters took more than 18 hours to put out the fire at the former John Tams factory on the Strand in Longton, which started at 21:00 BST on Friday.

Parts of the building were severely damaged, and Staffordshire fire and rescue service said the building had to be demolished.

It said it was the third fire at the former pottery works in the past year.

The service previously had to put out fires at the building in January and June.
