Nearly £500,000 invested in drink and drug schemes
Nearly £500,000 is to be invested in services to combat drug and alcohol problems in north Staffordshire.
Plans include a Newcastle-under-Lyme town centre service assessing alcohol-related injuries without the need to refer to accident and emergency.
Training for door staff to quickly spot alcohol issues is also being developed.
North Staffordshire Clinical Commissioning Group said it was working with the county council and Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council.
Dr Paul Unyolo, of the clinical commissioning group, said: "We are working together with all these groups including voluntary organisations to try and resolve the problem or to try and reduce the effects of the problem."
