Staffordshire gas fitter 'put lives and buildings at risk'
A gas fitter whose dangerous work "put lives and buildings at risk" has been spared jail.
Glenn Edkins, 43, from Barton-under-Needwood, Staffordshire, carried out faulty work while fitting a boiler at a home in the village in 2012, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) said.
Burton-upon-Trent magistrates gave him a six-month sentence, suspended for 12 months, for three safety breaches.
His work could have caused an explosion, the HSE added.
Edkins, of Holly Road, who admitted the charges, was ordered to pay £1,275 compensation and costs of £1,264.
