'More than 1,000' fish die on River Tean in Staffordshire

More than 1,000 fish are thought to have died on the River Tean in Staffordshire.

The cause of the incident at Beamhurst near Uttoxeter is being investigated, the Environment Agency said.

A spokesperson said the agency was alerted at 18:00 BST on Tuesday and was still assessing how many fish had died.

It appealed to anglers on the Dove, downstream of Uttoxeter, to keep the agency informed if they became aware of dead fish or chemicals deposits.
