Work begins to replace iron gas mains in Suffolk town

Motorists face major disruption in a Suffolk town for three weeks while some gas mains are replaced.

National Grid is replacing 25m of iron gas mains with durable plastic pipe in Sudbury. The new mains should last for about 80 years.

Road users in the area can expect delays and diversions while the work is carried out.

National Grid has apologised for any inconvenience and said it would try to finish the work quickly.

The work was planned for the school summer holidays to help reduce the impact on traffic.
