Calls for new arts venue in Forest Heath district

Concern that north west Suffolk lacks a professional theatre, cinema or arts centre has been raised as part of a cultural consultation.

Forest Heath District Council, which covers the towns and villages around Newmarket and Mildenhall, is asking for people's views on a cultural strategy.

The council is looking at the need for better facilities to promote the arts.

It is calling for the development of venues for the arts and also looking at provision for leisure and sports.

More information is on the council website and consultation will close on 6 September.

Responses will be collated and fed into the final version of the strategy which will be discussed by councillors at a later date.
