Suffolk man facing extradition over Gran Canaria death

Extradition proceedings have begun against a man from Ipswich after the death of a woman on Gran Canaria.

A European Arrest Warrant was executed on behalf of Spanish authorities for Christopher Chittock, 36, on suspicion of murdering Sarah Shields.

The body of the 23-year-old from Ipswich was found in Gran Canaria on 7 July. She was reported missing after failing to return from holiday.

The hearing at Westminster Magistrates' Court was adjourned until 11 August.

Ms Shields was on a two-week holiday in Gran Canaria from 28 June until 11 July but was reported missing when she failed to return home as planned.
