Extra time to quiz Bedford suspect over Suffolk rape

Police have been granted extra time to question a Bedfordshire man arrested on suspicion of raping a 14-year-old girl in Suffolk.

She was found by officers on the High Street in Lowestoft in the early hours of Friday in a "distressed state", a police spokeswoman said.

A 35-year-old man from Bedford was arrested by officers on Friday morning.

Detectives have been given an extra 12 hours to question him at Lowestoft police station.

Wildes Score in Lowestoft was cordoned off while investigations took place.
