Appeal over repeat prescriptions in Suffolk

People who want repeat prescriptions over the bank holiday weekend are being discouraged from going to Suffolk's three minor injuries units.

Lynne Wigens, from NHS Suffolk, said: "30% of people who turn up looking for a repeat prescription are causing delays for patients who need treatment.

"Our three minor injuries units at Felixstowe, Haverhill and Ipswich are excellent alternatives to A&E.

"But they do not provide a walk-in service for repeat prescriptions."

She advised anyone with a medical condition that cannot be treated at home to call their GP first, unless it was critical or genuinely life-threatening.
