Views sought on budget proposals in Waveney

People living in and around Lowestoft are being asked for their views on how its council sets its budget.

Waveney District Council is consulting people as it faces cuts in government funding to local authorities.

The council said it wanted residents' views on the "future of essential services".

Ideas being looked at include community groups taking over responsibility for park or private companies taking on some services.

Council leader Mark Bee said: "The coalition government has been clear with the people of Britain that pain is not only coming; it is here.

"Deep cuts to your own and public service budgets are inevitable in the (government's) Comprehensive Spending Review and all decisions we take regarding the services we deliver must be taken with great care and consideration."

More information is available on the council website.
