Safety fears over £5,000 fireworks theft in Norfolk

Fireworks for professional use which were stolen in Norfolk could seriously injure or kill if used incorrectly, police have warned.

The £5,000 hoard was taken from a padlocked container in Elmside, Emneth, near Wisbech, on Friday.

The manufacturers of the fireworks include Plant, Vulcan, Brothers and Britannia. Some are for home use.

The professional fireworks can easily explode sideways when discharged, police said.

The container was broken into between 0130 and 0800 BST on Friday.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
