An explosion and fire at Ipswich restaurant 'is arson'

A fire and explosion at a restaurant in Suffolk is being treated as arson, police have said.

The emergency services were called to the Bahar Restaurant in Norwich Road, Ipswich, in the early hours of Monday morning after reports of an explosion.

Two properties were evacuated, but no-one was injured.

A joint police and fire investigation has begun. The area is cordoned off and scenes of crime experts are examining the scene.

Due to damage and debris Norwich Road and some surrounding roads have been closed.

Diversions are in place.
