Ed Sheeran is to play a homecoming show at Thetford Forest in Suffolk.

The concert on 12 July will be the first time the Framlingham singer has played in the county since last summer's Latitude Festival.

Sheeran's album, titled "+", his first on a major label, returned to number one in the charts over Christmas.

He said: "It will be a forest first for me and I can't wait to get on stage among the trees and perform in such a unique place."

Sheeran's relentless touring won him a strong fanbase before he signed with Atlantic at the start of 2011.

An incredible 12 months included three top 10 singles, a number one album, a performance on Later with Jools Holland, presenting Blue Peter and an appearance on the official Children in Need single, Teardrop.

Tickets for Thetford Forest go on sale on 13 January.

Sheeran is the second high-profile act to announce a homecoming date in the forest - with The Darkness appearing on 14 July.

Plan B (15 June) and Will Young (16 June) are the other headline acts announced so far.
