Two injured as bus hits Ipswich Hospital A&E department

A bus has crashed into the the A&E department of Ipswich Hospital, injuring two passengers.

The double decker bus, operated by First, hit the canopy of the Garrett Anderson building on Saturday evening.

The top deck was torn apart and two panels of glass were smashed. The two passengers were treated for minor injuries.

A spokesperson for the hospital said the department continued to run as normal.

First issued an apology to its passengers.

A spokesperson said: "The incident is being internally investigated by the local depot manager as a high priority case and we are liaising with the hospital regarding the damage that was caused."
