Woman raped in flat after bogus taxi ride

A 21-year-old woman was taken to a flat and raped after getting into what she believed was a taxi in Ipswich.

Police said she had become separated from friends at the waterfront when she got into a silver three-door hatchback on Tuesday night.

The two men inside took her to a flat, where she was given a drink and raped by the driver. He is described as of Indian appearance and in his late 20s.

She managed to leave and was met by a friend on Warwick Road, police said.

The driver was also described as 5ft 5in (1.65m), of large build with short black hair and with a birthmark on the right side of his face.

The second man is described as white, in his late 20s, 5ft 8in (1.73m) and of large build.

Both men were wearing jeans and spoke with a local accent.

Police said the woman has been given support by specially-trained officers and support workers from the Sexual Assault Referral Centre.

Officers want to speak to anyone who may have seen a distressed female, particularly in the Devonshire Road and Warwick Road/Alexandra Road areas early on Wednesday.
