The final brief to redevelop a former Suffolk airfield is being put out to a six-week public consultation.

Mid Suffolk District Council said the plan for Eye Airfield could create up to 3,000 jobs in the long term.

The council is proposing a mixture of industry, housing and a country park at the site, which is all privately owned.

The plans are on show at the council offices in Needham Market and Diss, Diss and Eye libraries and online .

The site already has a cement factory, chicken litter power station, abattoir, herb producer, haulage firms and light industrial units and the aim is to replace the "piecemeal" development of the airfield with an overall strategy.

The consultation runs until 7 September 2012. If approved, the council said the framework could be in place by the end of the year.
