St Edmundsbury and Forest Heath councils agree management cuts

The removal of seven senior manager posts has been approved by two Suffolk councils which are merging services.

St Edmundsbury Borough Council and Forest Heath District Council have agreed to halve the number of strategic directors to two.

The councils, who have shared a chief executive since April, will also cut the number of heads of service from 14 to nine.

They are hoping to save £2.5m from total budgets of £20m this year.

The new "corporate leadership team" will be in place by 1 October.
