Yacht found abandoned on Suffolk coast

An investigation has been started by police and the UK Border Force after a yacht was found abandoned on the Suffolk coast.

Thames Coastguard received a report from an aircraft of a 25ft yacht aground on the shingle bank at Orford Ness at about 10:30 BST on Friday.

The Aldeburgh RNLI inshore lifeboat went to investigate and the found the yacht had been abandoned.

It was towed to Orford Quay, said Thames Coastguard.

A Border Force spokesman said: "We can confirm Border Force officers assisted with the search of an abandoned yacht found by HM Coastguard at Orford Ness, Suffolk yesterday. This is now a matter for police."
