Suffolk battered by strong winds

Suffolk felt the force of strong winds overnight, with police "inundated" with calls to fallen trees blocking roads.

Engineers worked to restore power to a few isolated clusters of homes without electricity near Bury St Edmunds after power lines went down.

So far there have been no serious problems, but officers are asking drivers to take extra care.

The Met Office said winds were gusting at up to 30mph, with weather warnings still in place.
