Firefighters have been tackling a blaze on board a ship carrying more than 100 vehicles at the port of Ipswich in Suffolk.

Seven fire crews were called to the Accum, bound for the Caribbean, after the blaze broke out shortly before 15:30 GMT on the lower deck.

Suffolk Fire Service said it was put out by 18:30 but crews remained on site as smoke was extracted.

Fire crews confirmed the fire was contained to timber on the lower deck.

The ship, understood to have three decks, is registered in Gibraltar.
