Plans to build more than 300 homes on agricultural land near Ipswich have been put forward.

Persimmon Homes Anglia wants to build on a 56 acre (23 hectare) site next to the Grange Farm estate in Kesgrave.

The company said it would seek permission from Suffolk Coastal District Council for 100 homes in the area known as Long Strops, with outline permission for a further 200 later.

An exhibition is being held at Kesgrave War Memorial Community Centre later.

Oliver Hurlock, the firm's land manager, said: "We are at the very early stage of bringing this site forward and want to hear the views of local residents on these early proposals."

Persimmon said feedback and comments were invited until the 13 February before it submits a planning application.
