An open water swimming event in Suffolk has been postponed for the second year running because of predicted bad weather.

The Great East Swim was due to take place at Alton Water Country Park near Ipswich on Saturday.

However, organisers said the strong gusting winds forecast for the weekend made it too dangerous to go ahead.

At the moment there is no new date for the event. Last year the swim was put back by 24 hours.

The organisers said they would be in touch with participants via text and email, and hope to have more information next week.

Thousands of swimmers normally take part.
