Wyverstone weapons find: Controlled explosion carried out

Suffolk Police have carried out a controlled explosion at a house where weapons were found.

Officers discovered the weapons during a search of a house on Potash Lane, Wyverstone on Thursday.

The force said "some items" were blown up a "precautionary measure" at about 16:00 BST on Monday.

James Arnold, 49, chairman of Wyverstone Parish Council, has been charged with possessing prohibited weapons and assault.

Mr Arnold, of Potash Lane, faces four counts of possessing a prohibited weapon and two of assault.

A 45-year-old woman from the Stowmarket area, arrested on suspicion of possession of a prohibited firearm, has been released on police bail until 21 May.
