Charity shop thefts in Godalming spark police warning

Charity shops in a Surrey town are being advised to be on their guard following two burglaries in which jewellery and cash were stolen.

A safe containing £200 worth of gold and silver jewellery was taken after burglars forced their way into the Oxfam charity shop in Godalming.

Nearly £300 in cash was also stolen from the Cancer Research shop.

Police are urging traders to sign up to local schemes which alert businesses to any potential offenders in the area.
