Plans for a major heritage centre and tourist attraction for a Surrey town are a step closer to becoming a reality, according to the council.

Guildford residents are being asked for their views on the site, which would incorporate the museum and castle.

Part of the cost of the project could be met by a Heritage Lottery Fund grant for about £1m, councillors said.

Council funding of £250,000 would help start a campaign to raise the additional £2m still

A touring exhibition throughout the summer is explaining the proposals and allowing people to comment on the scheme.
