Arrest on Surrey M25 after high-speed car chase
A teenager has been arrested after a high-speed car chase on the M25.
Surrey Police spotted the 19-year-old's van on the A3 at Wisley and followed it on to the M25 on Monday evening.
Officers indicated for it to stop but the motorist drove off at speed, reaching 90mph, and was eventually stopped on the hard shoulder.
The Mercedes Sprinter van was searched and the driver was arrested on suspicion of stealing copper cabling and other driving offences.
Police said he was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, driving without a licence or insurance, and driving with excessive speed.
Officers said checks revealed the driver only held a provisional licence and had no insurance to drive the vehicle.
The van was stopped just past junction nine for Leatherhead.
The teenager from Sevenoaks, Kent, was bailed pending further inquiries.
