'Tank shell' discovered in Surrey woods

An unexploded device found in Woodland in Surrey has been made safe by Army bomb disposal experts.

Police were called to Frensham Little Pond at 1100 BST after a walker discovered the device, thought to be a small tank shell.

Officers put up a 100m (330ft) cordon around the scene while disposal experts from Pirbright Barracks made it safe.

A force spokesman said the shell was taken to the barracks where it was discharged safely.
