Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to trace in connection with a "vicious attack" which left a man with serious facial injuries.

A 43-year-old man from Ashford was confronted by a group of men outside The George pub in High Street, Staines, and hit in the face on 1 August.

Surrey Police said the man's jaw was broken in several places and he had undergone surgery to repair the damage.

Det Con Sarah McCabe said it had been "an unprovoked and vicious attack".

She added: "I am determined to track down those responsible.

"This was an extremely upsetting experience for the victim and he has been in and out of hospital since the attack.

"I am very keen to speak to the man in the CCTV images as we believe he may be able to provide vital information about this senseless attack.

"This assault took place in a busy area on a weekend, so I feel certain that people would have seen this incident and I would urge anyone who was in the centre of Staines on Sunday 1 August to come forward."
