Arrests over 'mindless rampage' in Godalming

Two teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of going on a "mindless rampage" of vandalism in Godalming.

Surrey Police said cars and buildings were vandalised, causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.

Officers said the "trail of destruction" led through the borough council car park, Cliffe Rise and Eashing Lane.

Two people, an 18-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy, were arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage.

They are currently being questioned in custody.

Insp Simon Dann said police were first called to the town centre at 0200 BST.

He said: "This would appear to be a mindless rampage through Godalming which has caused a great deal of damage to both public and private property."
