Cyclist injured in race collision in Chertsey

A cyclist is in hospital with serious head injuries after a collision between riders in an organised race in Surrey.
The 39-year-old man from London was hurt when several riders collided and fell from their machines during the last half-mile of Sunday's race.
About 50 of the 60 cyclists in the race were going through Longcross Road, Chertsey, when the collision happened near the Accommodation Road junction.
The injured man was initially taken to St Peter's Hospital, Chertsey.
He was later transferred to St George's Hospital, Tooting, south London, were his condition was described as serious.
Surrey Police appealed for any witnesses to the accident, at about 1330 BST, to come forward.
