Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to trace in connection with a serious attack in a Surrey town centre bar.

A 21-year-old man from Sunbury-on-Thames suffered deep cuts to his nose, lip and cheek during the incident at Baroosh in Staines.

The victim was taken to St Peter's Hospital, Chertsey, after the attack at about 0145 BST on Saturday.

Surrey police have appealed for any witnesses to contact them.

'Nasty injuries'

The suspect was described as being a white man, around 5ft 10in (1.78m) tall, in his late 30s, of medium build and balding with short dark hair.

Police said he was wearing a green jacket, blue jeans and white trainers.

The victim, who has not been named by police, was on a night out with a group of friends when he became involved in a fight with the suspect.

Officers said after arguing for several minutes the suspect hit the victim in the face with a pint glass before being escorted from the premises by security staff.

Det Con Nick Beer said: "He [the victim] has sustained very nasty facial injuries which might lead to permanent scarring, so it is vital we track down this cowardly offender as quickly as possible."
