Man hit by lorry in Walton-on-Thames town centre dies

Roads were closed for several hours while police examined the crash scene

An elderly pedestrian died when he was hit by a heavy goods vehicle in a Surrey town centre.

Emergency teams were called to the accident in Church Street, Walton-on-Thames, at about 0920 BST on Thursday, Surrey Police said.

Hepworth Way and Church Street were closed while officers examined the scene but have since reopened. The man who died has not yet been named.

Officers want to speak to anyone who saw him or the lorry before the crash.
