Woman stabbed to death in Surrey was social worker

A woman killed by a stab wound to the throat in Surrey has been named as a 31-year-old social worker.

Surrey Police said officers were called to Woodfield Lane, Lower Ashtead, shortly before 1400 GMT on Wednesday.

Laura Grace Emily Davies Jones, was found seriously injured and declared dead half an hour later.

A police spokesman said on Friday: "A post-mortem examination carried out today found the cause of death to be a stab wound to the throat."

A 33-year-old man, who was also injured, was arrested and taken to hospital where his condition is described as stable.
