Body of missing Ewhurst man Eric Burley is discovered

The body of an 87-year-old man who went missing after attending a hospital appointment during the freezing weather has been found by police.

Eric Burley, from Ewhurst, in Surrey, failed to return home after attending the Royal Surrey Hospital in Guildford on 30 November.

Police said his body was found by a member of the public in the grounds of a private residence in Ewhurst.

Officers said his death was not being treated as suspicious.

Mr Burley was last seen by a hospital porter getting into his car after his appointment at 1500 GMT.

Surrey Police had appealed to the public to help them find his car by focusing on vehicles parked at the side of the road.
