A man needed stitches to his forehead following an attack by a group of men in a Surrey town centre.
He was assaulted by as many as eight people in Redhill just before 0130 GMT on Christmas Eve, police said.
The man, who was walking alone towards the taxi rank in Station Road, suffered cuts to his forehead, nose and hands.
In an appeal for witnesses, officers said the suspects were all described as white and were aged between 18 and 25 years old.
