Flu sufferers in Surrey urged to stay at home

Health officials in Surrey have urged people suffering flu-like symptoms not to visit hospital to avoid spreading the virus.

Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust said for most people flu was a "mild illness".

A spokesman said people should start to feel better after a few days without needing to visit a GP or A&E.

He advised people to stay at home, drink plenty of fluids and take over-the-counter flu remedies.

However, elderly people, pregnant women and those with other serious health conditions should contact their GP.
