A review is under way of car parking charges in some Surrey villages.

Elmbridge Borough Council has announced that the current pricing policy for long-term stays at its village car parks would be revised.

Councillor David Archer said: "As of today, we are still working on the new proposed levels, but they will be forthcoming in the very near future."

The review by the overview and scrutiny committee follows a new council county-wide parking strategy.

The committee, meeting on Thursday, also heard a request from Mr Archer for 30 minutes of free on-street parking to be allowed in villages in the borough.

The current charge for all-day parking in village centre car parks in Elmbridge is £4.
